Dino Store Children of all ages find a true comfort in playing with toys or items appropriate for their age. Toys have been known to comfort cries, distract from the unknown and encourage conversation. This is why the Dino-Store has become an important part of preparing children for surgery. Undergoing surgery at any age can be frightening. By offering our children the opportunity to select and keep a toy from the Dino-Store, they gain control over a situation where most choices are made for them. Their new toy also serves as a conversation piece for the doctors and nurses as they continue to build confidence and trust with the child. Whether or not this is the first time the patient has had surgery at the Children’s Medical Center, the Dino-Store offers them the familiarity of a special toy and the opportunity to have a choice in the process. How Can You Help? The Children’s Medical Center accepts new toys in the original package as well as financial donations. The Dino-Store always needs infant toys and teen items. To drop off your Dino-Store donations, see the center’s front desk receptionist or deliver to the Children’s Medical Center Family Services Development Office, Suite 1964. Please be sure to include your name and address with your donation. Make A Donation MCG Children’s Medical Center If your business or organization would like to sponsor a toy drive for the Dino-Store, contact us at 706-721-KIDS or 706-721-6838 to find out our most current Dino-Store needs. |
