Cancer Center

Providing the finest treatment for oncology patients, the MCG Cancer Center is the only dedicated inpatient oncology unit in the Augusta area. With the most innovative and technologically advanced treatments for treating cancer, the center has an interdisciplinary team of nurses, oncologists, surgeons and other cancer specialists to ensure oncology patients receive the best care possible.

The center offers access to national clinical trials, the only Gamma Knife in the Southeast and the Georgia Radiation Therapy Center. With the most advanced technology, as well as progressive programs such as the Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transport Program. In addition to advanced care, many of our services allow oncology patients to maintain relationships with their individual physicians. Because cultivating relationships with community physicians is a primary goal of our cancer program, many services are structured to compliment the care of the oncology patient's individual physician; sentinel lymph node biopsies, for example, are offered through Breast Health Services. The Gynecologic Cancer Prevention Center provides internationally recognized patient care and cutting edge clinical trial opportunities.

MCG Health System offers care beyond the physical management of cancer with support programs to help adults, children and families deal with the emotional impact of cancer.

Clinical Trials Division
The MCG Cancer Center is involved in numerous National Cancer Institute (NCI) and industry-sponsored clinical trials. MCG is one of only 12 U.S. cancer centers participating in the NCI Minority Based-Community Clinical Oncology Programs.  As a participant in many therapeutic and prevention/quality of life studies, MCG provides access to new and advanced treatment for many oncology patients.
