The word orthopaedic, sometimes spelled orthopedic, comes from two Greek words: 
ortho meaning straight and paedia meaning children.

The proper title of this medical specialty is orthopedic surgery, although orthopaedics is a generally accepted term.
Orthopedic surgery at our organization is made up of physicians and other health care professionals who provide comprehensive orthopedic services to the people of this community. Their expertise includes treatment and care for injuries, fractures, pain, design of rehabilitation programs for the physically disabled, and participation in musculoskeletal research.
