MCG Sports Medicine Center Physicians Montgomery (Monte) David Hunter, MD Dr. Hunter, Medical Director of the MCG Sports Medicine Center since the fall of 2001, has been involved in the care of athletes and active individuals for 15 years. He is sports medicine fellowship trained in both primary care and orthopaedic surgery. Dr. Hunter sees patients with a variety of injuries and has a special interest in injuries and disorders of the knee and shoulder. He utilizes state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and specializes in arthroscopic surgery and minimally invasive surgical procedures in the treatment of sports injuries. Research interests include knee ligament reconstruction and injury prevention in female athletes. Prior to joining the MCG Sports Medicine Center, Dr. Hunter was a team physician for UCLA's intercollegiate teams and athletes. In addition, he was an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the UCLA School of Medicine. He has served as a Team Physician at Wake Forest University while working as an assistant professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Hunter has worked with many athletes and teams at the collegiate and professional level. He was selected to be Team Physician for the ACC All-Star basketball team and has served as a team physician for the Italian Olympic Team training in North Carolina for the Atlanta games. He has also served as the medical director for national, professional and charity golf tournaments. |
